A NOTE TO WINDOWS USERS
The Multimedia Workshop is Windows-friendly! To install
Media Magic in Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or 3.1:
1. Copy the files from this disk to a sub-directory of your
choice on your hard disk.
2. Start Windows and click the top of the main window
(program group) in which you want to include The Multimedia
Workshop, to activate the group.
3. Select NEW from the FILE menu. For Program Description
type: TMW. For Command Line type: C:\YOURDIRECTORY\TMW.EXE,
where C: is your hard disk, and YOURDIRECTORY is the
subdirectory in which you have copied the TMW files. Then
click on CHANGE ICON. In the ICON file box type
C:\YOURDIRECTORY\TMW.ICO. And that's it. If you are not
experienced with Windows, you may have to try it a couple of
times to get everything right. After installation you can
simply double click on the TMW icon to start the program.
4. You can use this same procedure to install MSHOW, with
the provided icon MSHOW.ICO.
NOTE: When WINDOWS is juggling several programs, the sound
effects may be distorted. If so, adjust 100% processing time
(use the number 10000 in your .PIF) to The Multimedia
Workshop, or multi-task fewer programs.
MULTI-TASKING
If you are using MS-WINDOWS or other multi-tasking software,
you may notice that the sound effects and animations
occasionally get screwy if you are multitasking several
programs. This is because multitasking is done by quickly
switching one program and then another to the attention of
the CPU. Sound effects get chopped up in all programs. In
other words, It's them, not us! In WINDOWS and perhaps in
the other multi-tasking programs, it is possible to
reproportion the amount of time allowed to each program.
Anything that runs sound, like TMW, should get 100% CPU
attention when running in the foreground. In Windows, this is
the second window under PROPERTIES, set the number to 10000
for 100%.
